Like any task or project that is commonly done on the Internet, developers find ways to make them a lot simpler and faster for end users to implement.

The initially did not work: "Things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later." Then, it started working suddenly, but I couldn't test it because PayPal wouldn't let me login. PayPal told me to upgrade to a business account. I re-entered my email address and merchant ID, then I am back to "Things don't appear to be working at the moment. Please try again later." EDD offers a solid set of extensions, one of which supports physical products. But that's one of the main reasons it sits in second place: Because you must pay for that extension. As for the reason, EDD defeats some of the other solutions on the market: EDD has everything from discounts to codes to solid data reporting. The main benefit would have to be its extension library, though, since many of the options below that don't provide anything extra besides the core features. Here's what I think happened: In the update from v2.3.1 to v2.3.3, a rounding error was fixed by storing the amount of a transaction with 4 decimal places, instead of just 2. Meanwhile, when PayPal code read that amount, it failed whenever the amount had more than 2 decimal places.
